About
This comprehensive course is designed for professionals and individuals seeking to master the principles and practices of air quality management without the need for a traditional classroom setting. The ultimate goal of this training is to equip you with the knowledge to manage air pollution effectively, ensuring that concentrations do not exceed defined target levels and that both human health and the environment are protected.
You will learn about the history and background of air quality engineering, the nature of various pollutants, and the different methods used to calculate their emissions. The course also covers Air Pollution Control (APC) technologies, factors that affect pollutant concentrations at ground level, potential health impacts, and the regulations designed to manage air emissions. We will demystify the specialized language, terminology, and approaches of this critical field, providing you with a solid foundation to make informed engineering decisions.
Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
-
Gain a thorough understanding of the legislative and regulatory approaches to air quality.
-
Understand the nature and various classes of different air pollutants and their sources.
-
Learn how to determine the factors that influence ground-level concentrations of pollutants.
-
Explain the basic public health effects of air pollutants and the associated economic costs.
-
Understand the key stages of an air quality management system.
-
Detail the role of emissions inventories and various measures available to control emissions from different sources.
-
Grasp the basic components of an air simulation model.
-
Identify the key issues to consider when designing an air quality monitoring program.
